In Spring 2020 Connex Health and The Pangaea Group collaborated on a comprehensive landscape survey of private payer prior authorization (PA) processes and practices. From the initial white paper, the Simplify Prior Authorization (SPA) initiative was developed. The white paper and subsequent communications campaign was supported by grants from Amgen Canada and Gilead Sciences Inc.
Since that time several other organizations have become involved either as financial supporters, on the SPA Advisory Board or as subject matter experts on specific aspects of this initiative. What each of these organizations and individuals have in common is the desire to see improvements both in the understanding of PA and the PA process.
